Programme Philosophy : According to the human rights principle of the International Labor Organization (ILO) that are considered to be fundamental principles and rights at work: freedom; equality at work and provide for maximum safety at work to maintain complete physical, mental and social health of workers. The person who takes responsibility for advocating for workers' rights must have knowledge and ability to perform their duties in accordance with these principles. The Bachelor of Science Programme in Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) designs a curriculum to produce graduates with a body of knowledge in occupational health and safety, able to solve problems or provide professional approaches to managing occupational health problems; understand the context of entrepreneurial mindset which be creative 21st century learning skills; lifelong learning skills and communication skills that can use appropriate technology in accordance with the situation of the problem and the context of the organization both domestically and internationally. The OHS programme was established in 2010 and has been accredited by the Department of Labour Protection and Welfare, Ministry of Labour, Thailand in 2012. This programme aims to produce graduates that can contribute their knowledge of occupational health and safety to different working situations with management competencies. During the past decade, the programme has produced about 250 BSc graduates equipped with profound OHS technical knowledge and the 21st century skills to serve the community and industry sectors. The graduates are expected to demonstrate practical skills in occupational health and safety management at professional level with international standards enabling them to work in a multinational organization. Thus, the programme is developed in academic collaboration with the School of Public Health, University of Michigan, Centre for Occupational Health and Safety Engineering (COHSE) where it is located in the U.S. National Institute for Occupational Safety and Health (NIOSH) for OHS researching and advanced knowledge sharing. Furthermore, the English language is mandatory throughout the programme that enhances the graduates’ English-language competency. Regarding the latest revised curriculum in 2019, pragmatism theory is a pedagogical philosophy of education for programmes with emphasis on learning by doing. Selection of subject content by looking forward to asking what skills will be needed in future society. Programme emphasis on self-directed learning and social skills by conducting group work that students need to understand their responsibility. Aims graduates to have a strong emphasis on problem solving and critical thinking. Programme integrated courses and entrepreneurship into education through Project Based Learning (PBL) which is collaborative and cooperative learning projects. The integration of community service and service-learning projects into the curriculum

Programme Objectives :

  2. Equip students with practical knowledge and skills required for managing occupational health and safety in real-life situations.
  3. Foster a culture of innovation by encouraging students to initiate and implement new ideas that improve occupational health and safety practices.
